  Madhouse is my home, and I felt like it was time for a fresh coat of paint. I’m excited to share the new look and feel of the brand with you soon… stay tuned!

• – A new look for Yarrh Wines

  – A new look for Yarrh Wines

  Yarrh Wines is a brilliant winery near the township of Murrumbateman 45 minutes outside of Canberra.

  Drawing on the natural bushland setting, Madhouse designed a range of promotional materials and wine labels in collaboration with George Mackintosh. The designs incorporate a contemporary finish with hints of the rustic and rural surroundings of the vineyard.

  I’m particularly proud of the innovative wine label we created with a full wrap style and spot UV coating on the logo for a textured finish.

  Award-winning fine dining restaurant Mezzalira and its daytime counterpart Da Rosario offer an authentic taste of Italy in the heart of Canberra. I was thrilled to be asked to help design their new website and promotional material – it’s only fair the look and feel of the brand matches the beauty of the food! The work is currently in progress and I look forward to sharing it with you upon launch..

  – Semi-Permanent coming soon

  No, I’m not talking about hair dye. Semi-Permanent, the annual designer’s conference, will be held at Carriage works in Sydney on 22–23 May, 2015. It is a truly creative space, which allows you to be inspired by leaders in the art and design fields. This year’s event boasts an impressive list of speakers, including Noah Taylor and Patrick Clair. Taylor, an actor and artist, has appeared in many films and even appeared in the TV series Game of Thrones, while Clair, an accomplished director, has worked on the much-loved TV series, True Detective. Semi-Permanent is such a great place to stimulate the grey cells, work with peers, check out the exhibitions, partake in workshops and of course network with likeminded folk. It’s a week-long celebration of all things design and I can’t wait.

• – Bacaro opens in Canberra

  – Bacaro opens in Canberra

  Italian and Sons has opened a brand new wine bar at the back of its Braddon restaurant called Bacaro. This high-end wine bar promises to be a place where you can enjoy delicious food and wine in a wonderful setting. I’m so excited to be collaborating with art director, George Mackintosh, on Bacaro’s branding and design. George has been involved in many high-profile projects around Canberra for several years, and it’s an honour for me to be involved.

  It’s been a wonderful year filled with learning and, of course, plenty of design. There is so much to learn about running a successful business that goes far beyond what I love the most – being a designer – and includes various not-so-exciting aspects such as bookkeeping. I’ve so far had the privilege of working on various projects that have come via word of mouth, but now I’m focusing more efforts on the marketing of my business and gaining a deeper understanding about this competitive industry.   Always looking to extend my skills, I attended a two-day course at Megalo Print Studio and Gallery in Kingston. It covered, among other things, image and screen preparation as well as ink and paper selection. Exploring this fast and versatile print medium was so enjoyable and allows me to add another print medium to my offering.

  I hit the big 3-0 in February this year. So, I thought it only fitting for a Boardwalk Empire fan-boy to celebrate with a 1920s themed party. As a designer, I was naturally keen to create an authentic look and feel. It was held at The Old Parliament House Members Bar with a perfect selection of food, drinks and entertainment (1920s music and friendly games of roulette and blackjack, of course). The invitations and menus were designed by me to fit the theme and the whole atmosphere was outstanding. It was a truly unforgettable evening, and a great way to combine business with pleasure!

  As a movie buff, I was thrilled to be the lead designer and developer for the CIFF website. CIFF celebrated its 18th birthday with 64 films and 120 screenings over 18 days, and being a part of the promotion of it felt as sweet as a boysenberry choc top. I look forward to many more opportunities like this one.
